Guidelines talks to International Centre for Journalists

It's been a busy summer behind the scenes for the Road Collision Reporting Guidelines - as well as in its public-facing capacity. RCRG author, Laura Laker, presented to a global audience on how to report accurately and fairly on road crashes and their fallout. The International Centre for Journalists (ICFJ) invited Laura to speak to reporters from across the world, focusing particularly on reporting from Nigeria, Brazil, Botswana, India and Mexico. The presentation was the first part of a competition for international journalists in nations with high traffic-related death rates. Laura appeared beside speakers from the World Health Organisation, including Dr Melecki Khayesi and Matthew Taylor. You can find out more about the competition here.

Laura also recorded a training webinar on using the Guidelines with Co-Pilot, the Vision Zero toolkit and resource for road safety professionals. The webinar, which is behind a paywall for members, is a positive way to reach subscribed organisations and their staff, and to help improve language around road collisions and what happens before and after a crash. Find out more about Co-Pilot, and the research library of which this webinar is a part, here.
